Charles Parker: My Final Word on the Clerk's Race

I have made a decision with which I am content.  And I am sure – with this column - I will be skewered by both sides.  If recent history is a guide, most of it will be nasty name-calling or partisan politics. A little will be reasoned disagreement.  Whatever…
I will not be casting a vote for the Republican primary for Brevard County Clerk of Circuit Court.
I have met both men –incumbent Mitch Needelman and challenger Scott Ellis.  I have sat and talked with them at length.  Neither have convinced me that they deserve my vote.  And I take my vote seriously.
Let’s take Needelman first.   He falls short in management style, accountability, and transparency.
Needelman made a good faith effort to lower spending and reduce government employment by hiring a staffing agency.   But as with most things he has done, it had its seamy side.  He was heartless in the process and – while cutting long-time employees – he brought friends on to the payroll into new big-money jobs.  And some of these new hires have frankly been campaigning on government time.  He didn’t seem to care.
He has used questionable practices in issuing contracts.  The BlueGem fiasco is a good case-in-point. I will not re-litigate that here.  However, by using an Invitation-to-Negotiate instead of a Request-for-Proposal in such a sizeable contract, he has raised more questions than answers. He is spending my money – as well as yours. All answers to all questions should be readily available.
Finally, Needelman has clammed up. When I was going to write a feature on him, he and staff were accessible.  He sat with me for a couple of hours, he emailed me several times, and a staffer even met me early on a Saturday morning.  Then he skipped the BREC picnic and he stopped responding to emails.  His office issues the most inane and partisan press releases I have ever read.  He is a public servant, right?  Hey, Mitch – are you out there somewhere?
Now on to Ellis. He as well leaves some things to be desired.
He quit in the middle of his last stint. Ellis was elected as Clerk of the Circuit Court three times, but only served for two-and-a-half terms.  He cited health reasons.  I have no reason to doubt that.  But when Needelman forced out a bunch of Ellis’ former employees, he miraculously was well enough to serve again.  It seems his campaign is more about revenge than service.
Ellis likes government.  As much as he rails against it, he has a constant drumbeat about “badging” more employees.  At a time when most of us want government cut, he wants at least as much government as he used to have.  Plus, many of his former employees have an almost messiah-like devotion to him.  Any manager that is loved that much probably isn’t a very effective manager.
And frankly, I am tired of the black helicopters buzzing around.  There is not a conspiracy under every rock.  There is not an evil motive to every decision.  Everyone is not out to get him, but Ellis seems to thrive on the quixotic. Scott, sometimes a windmill is simply a windmill.
Some people say to choose the lesser of two evils.  I don’t think so.  I don’t want to be held partly responsible for the election of either of these two guys.

  1. Charles, I respect your opinion, so my comment will be short. Scott worked tirelessly for ten years at the clerks office 80-90 hours every week. He was exhausted. He has only come back, not out of vindictiveness, he cares about all those people. Who worked their tails off, to keep that office running like a watch, while making just enough to get by. When times were lean, do to a budget fluctuations monthly, he would ask if people would cut back a few hours each week,( ie: 40>36 ) just to keep an office in Palm Bay open. Or keep a single mom, on the job. He has a heart of Gold sir, he cares about everyone who works for all of us.
With all the pain Mitch has brought down on our county employee's, the lies to get elected, the communities trust abandon for self righteousness, I sir am vindictive for those who served us for Scott. Blame me Charles, for I am one of many who begged Scott, to come back PLEASE, and fix that finely tuned watch again, to restore what a demon destroyed.

    1. But the point is those people did not have to be martyrs along with Scott. Everyone works normal hours now for decent pay and benefits. Just because you work hard does not mean you work smart!

  2. Mr. Parker I never loved Scott Ellis. He was a visionary that saw past the housing bubble and he wouldnt give us raises. He forced us to really pull together as a team when he laid off 50 employees and furloughed yet more. He kept the team strong by reducing hours in order to not have to lay off even more of us. In 2008 due to no raises in four years, I believed mitch heedelman and supported his campaign over scotts based on the lies needelman told. If I appear messiah like regarding Scott it is because i have learned the hard way that a no raise visionary who cares about the people of Brevard trumps a power hungry money grubbing person who is more interested in lining his pockets then the people of Brevard. I request you rethink your vote, or lack thereof. Scott Ellis is the only person with the knowledge to right the clerks office. I believe he will restore honesty and integrity to the clerks office.

    1. With good management you all could have had raises. When most of you were already scheduled for termination or furlough by Scott's management method, Needelman rescued you all. This looks suspiciously like the Stockholm Syndrome to me!

      Delete
    2. Stockholm Syndrome? I don't think so. I was 'reorganized' along with 19 other people in Needelman's first month so he could afford to bring in two of his cronies at $90,000.00 each (read Mr. Parkers column above). I was a long term employee with a personnel file filled with outstanding evaluations who loved her job and loved her customers...

I do count my blessings daily though and I do know that I was one of the lucky ones in that I didn't have to work under Needelman for more than a month.

Just curious, how could good managment have brought more money into the budget? Scott was living within the budget. He utilized furloughs which had become mostly voluntary after a few years. Moms could stay at home with their kids over the summer and not have to pay for daycare...and spend quality time with their kids. He also reduced our hours to keep as many of the employees as possible including above said moms.

You know what Mitch was for me? The adage, "The grass is always greener on the other side". Guess what, I am old enough to know better that if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

Mitch has done some horrendous things to the employees (read Mr. Parker's column above, yes I'm repeating myself) but it is NOTHING compared to the way he is ripping off the taxpayers of Brevard County with his 8.5 million digitizing deal, when a Florida Company could have done it for 2.9 million.

Scott loses, he goes back to the farm. The taxpayers of Brevard get screwed! The remaining clerks employees get outsourced.

Mitch loses, it's a win for the taxpayers! Scott comes back in and cleans up the mess. Nixes that 8.5 million dollar sweetheart deal for a Michigan company. Charges get filed...

    3. You are delusional you silly woman. If Scott was working within the budget furloughs would not have been necessary? Can't you see he duped you all into no raises and those furloughs to save his own butt because the budget was short. Tell me, and I sincerely mean for you to think about this--- all you dedicated employees worked for peanuts never getting raises and sacrificing for your leader and the "team" pulled together. Well rah rah for you. Do you remember in any of those lean years when you all were eating beans &weenies in the noble cause...... Do you remember Scott offering to personally take a pay cut??? I didn't think so. You were all a bunch of SUCKERS!!

      Delete
    4. Actually...and you're not going to like this response, Scott did take a pay cut. He donated a percentage of his check to the employee trust fund to help those who were struggling.

You silly delusional man. You think that you are better than Scott because maybe you dress better than him but let me tell you, you are not. First, I don't think you're all that snappy of a dresser. Second, Scott knew every single one of us. Did he like us all. No! Did we all like him? Oh HECK NO! But he didn't treat us like he was above us and demand that we respect him while he was disrespecting us. Kind of like how your boss came in (speaking of, he isn't a snappy dresser either). Scott didn't hide behind the 'executive assistant', and practice plausible denialability. He answered emails to literally hundreds of his constituents and he had an open door policy amongst his employees. I didn't care for a lot of what Scott did from 2004 to 2008, but it was more because I felt that he was surrounding himself with people who were taking him down the wrong path for the Clerk's Office. I don't think those same people will be surrounding him should he be re-elected.

Scott should have fired me when I openly supported Mitch in 2008. He did not. We shall see if Mitch will be man enough to let people who openly support his opponent the same courtesy? I think we already know the answer to that. He's too petty to forgive and forget. He's already lining them up for termination.

Scott's an engineer. He is an incredibly smart man. A visionary. But his social skills are that of an engineer. He isn't a smooth talking liar like your boss. He is what he is. He cares about the people of Brevard County and if he can help it, he isn't going to sit around and let Mitch Needelman rob the county blind.

I'm sure that your 'dedication' has been bought. The thing that you don't understand, is that for many of us, money wasn't what kept us loyal. We weren't sacrificing so much for our leader as we were for the people who worked in the cubicle beside us and across the way from us and down the hall from us. We were family. Dysfunctional yes. But family nonetheless.

One closing thought, after much consideration, I think you're right about the Stockholm Syndrome and the Clerk's employees. I've often wondered why some of them have stuck it out and why one or two has even professed loyalty to Needelman and I believe you're right. It is a classic case of the Stockholm syndrome. Going to take some major counseling to bring those people back to reality.

      Yourself included!

    5. first off, the employee trust fund you reference was illegal according to the IRS. it had to be dissolved. another of scott's not bothering to follow the rules, just let 'er rip. sort of like the fix it ticket thing where he made his own rule on that and ignored statute.
he may have contributed to the fund as a charity deduction... big whoop. it was a benefit to him tax-wise. so he did not technically take a cut in pay, he just diverted a little of his money to reduce his income taxes. not exactly the altruistic picture you paint. but whatever lets you sleep at night.

you did not just support needelman in 2008, i realized today that YOU were the mole in the Clerk's office during the 2008 campaign!! What a turnaround you did!! back then you CRUCIFIED scott with all the insider information you fed to the Needelman campaign. it was amazing the stuff you leaked to needelman. whether it was all true or not, they had only your word, but boy did you put out some words. there may be more on that later. but scotty should pay attention. you twist and turn like a snake in a rake. you might just turn on him again given the right circumstances! whoa, baby! are ya reading this, scott? she turned you out to them, with information about a lot of things that were private, at least until she told all. if by some miracle you win, you better be prepared to reward her with a big job for all this butt kissing she is doing now, or she may turn on you again. hell hath no fury like a woman scorned....

you have no idea what needelman is doing. so stop speculating. you are being stupid to voice your ideas as facts. you are not in the clerk's office, you are angry that you lost your job there, and now all you can do is go on these blogs and try to get some catharsis for your bitterness. here is a clue for you. sometimes bad things happen to bad people. there is no billboard on I-95 guaranteeing you anything in life. play the hand God gave you and move on. bitter shows on your face. you will be an old haggard woman if you don't let go of your anger.

well your dedication to your dysfunctional family lasted only long enough to feed insider info to needelman's campaign in 2008. so how did that work for ya? did you feel any guilt that when you threw scott under the bus, you threw all your co-workers under there with him?

as for defending scott's lousy personality and lack of social skills with the excuse he is an engineer, you just insulted all engineers. engineers are not by definition ill mannered, poorly dressed, and unable to interact with other humans. that is just scott. i know a lot of engineers who are well turned out, articulate, personable and charming. scott is just a slob, and that is not synonymous with "engineer".

so, brenda, another of your inane posts. another response from me. shall we dance again?

      Delete
    6. Just now realized it? Not the sharpest crayon in the box are you? Ive said it since day one. Scott called me out on it on the ft blogs back in 2008. Again, i suffered no consequences from Scott. He held no grudges. Will mitch be as generous with the current employees? We both know he will not. For them, its not if its when.

Rumor has it that there is more outsourcing going on? Some nice raises for those couple of severe Stockholm employees.

As to all those engineers I've offended, I apologize. I doubt many of them are reading the Brevard Time blogs so I think I'm going to be ok.

Angry I lost my job? Never. I believe (and you should already know this) in the laws of attraction. Ask Mitch, the day he terminated me, I really angered him because i said to him that i knew he was going to fire me so could we just get the show on the road? He literally threw my reorganization letter at me. Did you know pretty much everyone else cried at some point? Not me, I traveled and truly enjoy my new job...needeling needelman.

Nah, just kidding about that part. Im really not bitter. Like i said previously, life goes on after the clerks office. You will soon find out.

      Talk about inane posts...

    7. you are a twisted person who cannot show loyalty to anyone for more than the time it takes you to find someone else to cling on to. i would never trust the likes of you for anything. anyone who behaved the way you did, to both scott AND needelman should not be proud and bragging about it. what is wrong with your brain? you admit publicly with no remorse that you cheerfully betrayed everyone, including your co-workers. what a sociopath!

    8. I did not file long form for taxes since 2005, so the $10,000 or so I spent on the office each year was not a tax deduction.
I have been told the trust fund still exists. If it has been dissolved, as you say, we will see what the State Attorney has to say about it.
The fundswere not Needelman's to spend.

    9. Why did you need all those pay advances Scott? You have something to say about every other post here. Yet you can't seem to bring yourself to answer that one. You also ignored the one about your mystery outsourced decorator. Also you can't seen to find the answer on why you bought that phone system from a firm in Canada. Stop stonewalling and give the answers to this stuff. If you don't we will just keep putting the questions out there for all to see and wonder why you don't have an explanation.

      Delete
    10. Wow only $10k?? I am pretty sure Needelman spent more than that on the office. He pays for all employee activities.

      Delete
    11. So you never took a pay cut so we caught ms Brenda in yet another lie.
And needelman also paid out of his pocket for employee functions PLUS gave everyone raises. So what was your point Brenda?? You all starved and Scott still got his full pay. At least Needelman gave to all equally with across the board increases to get everyone up to a decent standard of living.
Scott helped all that were struggling. Let's see. He had 500 employees and $10k in contributions. Wes that each year or total for all the years? Let's give benefit of doubt and say each year, but really doubtful okay the math: ten thousand divided by 500 employees? Wow. What a philanthropist!! I bet you all could go to McDonald's and get those big macs you had always dreamed about?

Come on Brenda! Admit a raise would have been way better. Scott was throwing you all crumbs and you gobbled them up. Don't you feel silly now?

PS -if you were giving $10k to charity a year and not declaring it on taxes you are even a worse financial manager than we all thought

    12. The state sets the pay, it cannot be cut. What you can do is give it back (trust fund) and use much of it on the office (lunches, picnics, parades, flowers, etc.). Evidently you're no tax man, as unless you have a large mortgage (hint, hint) it is not worth itemizing. There are no Needelman paid activities, no weekly lunches, no office picnic, nothing, and you can be sure on day number one in office I am going to chek on the trust fund.

    13. It is a jury system, not a phone system. When I left it was under test, your leader jumped the gun and took it live before it was ready.

    14. Clerk's pay is set by population. The population for Brevard has been flat or declining for five or six years. There were no raises. I know it must really shock you to see not everyone has been in office to loot it.

      Delete
    15. Do not lie about what Needelman has paid out. He pays for all employeer functions and has made personal contributions to employees in need. God WILL get you for all those lies. And while you are being so detail oriented to correct me on the "jury system" you are still conveniently ignoring the fact you went to CANADA to buy it. That is the issue you dimwit! Surely even you are not that dumb! Stop dragging red herrings. As for your salary?? blah, blah the state sets the salary! Fine! Did the state also mandate that you should repeatedly request pay advances?? Let's get down to answering the questions. Everyone is on to your diversionary tactics.

  4. Mr Parker your two comparison's are totally separate in nature. If it were not for Scott Ellis how would you even be able to write a comments on the looting between needlemman and BluewareBluegem ? Many of us who had the pleasure of having Scott Ellis as our Clerk and Watchdog always knew secure in that we had honest government in the clerks office. I would like to take that one step further as a Business owner Mr Ellis is an economic weathervane and quite the genius. As someone mentioned earlier he was and still is a visionary that saw past the housing bubble. Not only did Scott Ellis not give raises he furloughed employees during this time as part of seeing past the housing bubble. Those employees never complained because they knew there jobs would be secure when the furlough was up and it was the right thing to do . Now tell me how can you say is is an ineffective manger ? please elaborate !!!! Then Needleman comes in and fires and then outsources through Source 2, and now multiple lawsuits against Needleman for good cause may I say . Not Messiah like at all in my opinion .. more like a employer they knew was genuine and they could trust just like the majority of citizens in Brevard county. There is no lesser of two evils Mr. parker there is only one Evil ! Your entitled to your opinion and that is what makes america great ! I see two choices " a looter (Needleman) vs an honest clerk of court (Scott Ellis) ,. Your one vote will not lose Scott Ellis this election he will win on August 14 by a landslide . Some of us will not trade honesty for backroom deals . I am Sorry Your not on the winning team !

  6. I respect that Mr. Parker and wish other voters that are similarly torn, don’t have a handle on the issues, or just vote by name recognition will refrain from voting as well. This is an important race to some of us in the biz community like me who rely on the Clerk’s office–the People’s Resource-to be functioning correctly and smoothly.

My Scorecard: ELLIS-knowledgeable, experienced, reliable, accessible, transparent, and a good steward of tax-payer $$. NEEDELMAN–inexperienced, incompetent, seemingly dishonest & spiteful, shifty, evasive, and a terrible steward of OUR $$ who pulls a Ferris Bueller when it is time to explain his mega-mil no-bid contract award & $500K pre-contract 'bonus'. Bueller..., Bueller?

My vote is going to ELLIS.

  9. Great Job Charles! Very well written, and very well thought out. It will undoubtedly be pointed out that I have a distinctly different opinion of one of these candidates, but I appreciate your thoughtful insights and your candor, as well as I appreciate your choice to sit this one out on principle.

It's no secret that I'll be voting for Mitch Needelman, but I know that both candidates will be deminished by the loss of your vote and your confidence.

Thank you for your honest and straight forward assessment of this race! Job well done sir.

  10. We are all entitled to our opinion, as you are to yours. I am also worried about this race because this is not a throwaway position. I have researched and studied it. My conclusion is that Ellis had more sleazy back room deals than Needelman could ever come up with. That is why Ellis went nuts when he heard Roseware was auditing past contracts. Soooo much has already surfaced questionable with more to come. My fear is that there is not enough time to get it all public before the primary. I urge everyone to remember Ellis quit. That is BIG. Nobody leaves a $140K job unless they are in some serious trouble. I will vote Needelman. People seem to forget they elected him to 4 terms as legislator and loved him then for all the help he gave people especially during the hurricanes. He is same man he was then.

    1. This is the classic response which should clue some people in what is really going on. I already replied to this same post on the Brevard Times blog on the Court Hearing. If so much has been found on myself, why has nothing been released? This will just like the Needelman campaign on 2008 where after an entire year all kinds of 'facts' are dumped in the final 10 days. If there is not enough time for the Campaign and Executive team to get this public (clearly the campaign is run from the office) what has been the problem? The IT 'audit' by Roseware was commissioned back April 6th of this year and we paid $250,000 for it. Where are the results and where is the final report?

    2. Rumor and innuendo -- what a disgusting comment. There is not a single fact listed.

    3. The $250,000 IT audit 'report' has been suppressed, hidden behind the shield of an alleged FDLE 'investigation'. This was reiterated at the Court Hearing on Monday by the Clerk's attorney. Pardon my Black Helicopter Conspriacy theories, but how can Mr. Anonymous speak of 'getting out' the information in the report when it has been deliberately suppressed from public viewing? How can he be seeing something no one else is permitted to view?

  11. It is unfortunate you have failed the grasp the difference between having regular employees in an organization and temporaries. Temporary labor and contract labor is generally used for specific functions in an office, for example, we had contracted out Collections, certain IT work, mail payments, and the courier. On the times you mix contract and regular labor within the same function you have a clear path where the contracted temporary labor may become regular employees if they seek becoming so. Instead in the Clerk's Office we have a revolving door of temporary laborers whose stays are so brief they cannot be fully trained and whose loyalty so low constant errors are being made in jobs which require a high degree of accuracy.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If all these errors are being made why have the employees met or exceede state standards every report period since Needelman took office? An achievement, I might add, they NEVER realized while you were there.

      Delete
    2. Scott will you ever answer the question about why you needed all those pay advances in middle of pay periods ? If you continue to ignore we will all have to accept the escalating daily rumor that you literally "blew" all your money on shall we say recreational activities.

      Delete
    3. They are not meeting standards due to the work being heavily riddled with errors. Funny how you all like to talk about drugs problems. Since I took off maybe one or two days a year and made the daily drive up a jigsawed I-95 for 10 years without a crash somehow a drug problem does not match the profile.

      Delete
    4. Another blatant lie. They have met or exceeded standards every reporting period since you left. Why not do a records request and see for yourself? Oh wait I have a better idea! The annual report is on line. Link on clerks page. You know what that is?? That is the accountability document you did not bother with doing after 2008 because things were such a mess you had no way to explain it. Anyway the results of state standards are in there. I bet you could also request them directly from the state.

While we are on this subject, tell us why you believed you were smarter than the other clerks and refused to attend training to get certified. You are one of two in the state who thought you were better than the rest.

Driving without wrecking does not indicate drug free. That is stupid remark.

      Delete
    5. Yes I agree. No wrecks might just be lucky. Maybe God feels sorry for you in the rest of your life so he keeps you from wrecking. Does not mean you are not a drug addled mess during non- working hours. Does not mean you are. But there are just too many rumors from too many places and people, some of them your inner circle, that suggest otherwise.

      Delete
    6. Oh, mr. Ellis if you want to discuss profile of drug user, it is classic.
      Anti-social behavior
      Inability to interact with others
      Alienation from family
      Few friends
Slovenly appearance and lack of pride in appearance
      Poor hygiene
      Hermit like behaviour
      Paranoia
      Delusions of grandeur
      Need to always be right
      Keeping odd hours
      Inability to sleep
      Obsessive/compulsive

Need I go on?? You are textbook.

      Delete
    7. It is interesting to see one anonymous play the game as if three. I-95 has been under jigsaw lane construction for five years, those on drugs would not survive driving it daily, nor would work every day for 10 years.
The work in the office is riddled with errors. It is simply thrown over the fence by the day laborers to get their boss off their back. The attorney alleged in charge is both clueless and absent.
Your Boss was out of work for six weeks (completely paid) with a runny nose. Yes, you do need to go on, the comments you make reflect well upon the person making them.

      Delete
    8. A runny nose would not have required surgery at a specialty hospital and weeks of recovery. Your ignorance is showing more every day. If you now have to sink to comments regarding health issues of which you know nothing it speaks volumes not just of your desperation but of your character. But we are not surprised. We remember in 2008 you spread the rumor that Joan Needelman was dying of maginary cancer. You are a despicable excuse for a human being.
Why are you blathering on about road construction on I-95? Do you really think the ability to drive proves you don't do drugs? I have a bulletin for you: THOUSANDS of people who do drugs drive to work every day.
So the clerks throw the mistakes over the fence. Yeah, that is a coherent statement. Maybe you were doing drugs when you wrote that because only a druggie would think that made sense.
Unraveling daily Scott. Look back at your posts. Really going downhill.

      Delete
    9. No, as often occurs, the Needelmans spread rumors on themselves and blame others. Nothing on her alleged health problems came from me, and why would they? But I get your message as things have not changed, start rumors on yourself for the six weeks out of work, assign your own rumors to others, and start new rumors on other people over their alleged drug problems. You make false accusations of drug use for months but I 'sink' to make comments about a known absence of six weeks.
It will take a long time to fumigate the office come January. As for things going downhill, when's the next book tour and readings?

    10. When they finally aired your office out enough to actually be able to enter every one felt sorry for the janitorial crew. They wore masks and gloves for the trash removal. Huge piles of old papers. Cardboard boxes full of garbage. Old moldy food containers. Bugs everywhere. And I will not go go into the disgustingly gross condition of your private bathroom. You brought your filthy personal habits to work with you. So you are in. O position to make comments on fumigation.

    11. Oh, by the way. All the rumors you deny spreading back in 2008? Guess who told Needelman campaign you started those??? Could it be..... Your new best friend-ex-enemy -ex-friend-ex-enemy the lovely and vivacious but untrustworthy ms. Brenda??

    12. That is a flat out lie. Of course most of your posts are. I'd like you to remember that my anonymous name back then was 'itspublicrecord'. The information I provided you was public record. I wasn't part of Scott's inner circle so I certainly could not have given you any 'inside' information. I actually have the email that Mitch's wife sent to me telling me about how Scott was spreading that lie. Of course back then I had no reason to not believe her. Now that I see how you guys operate - you put it out there and then you say that Scott said it trying to garner sympathy for yourself.

Trust me, it's not working. You aren't doing Mitch any favors by blogging away anonymously on this site.

    13. The office was cleaned out. I did not keep food there, either. The bathroom was used by the other employees when I was in Viera or Melbourne. These comments are really just bizarre.
Brenda did not start the Joanie rumor, Joanie fed it to a certain Melbourne officer who was working with them.
The crazy thing is not how bizarre your posts are but the fact you are within the Mitch offce and campaign inner circle.

    14. I saw that office with my own eyes. It was exactly as I described. I am only sorry no one had the foresight to photograph it. The poster is telling the truth.

    15. Brenda you did not have to be in Scott's inner circle. You were outside it for good reason. The info you provided was you being a little snitch and spy. And you did not give Needelman public record. Why would he get that from you?? He could get it himself. What you gave was the dirt. Like what rumors came through Scott's door, the way he treated the employees, the stuff he said about his wife...or ex-wife or whatever she is. You know all the good juicy stuff. So stop trying to paint yourself different now. You know exactly what you are. And if you don't like my posts it is because you know they are true and you are wondering what I will reveal next. If you want me to stop then go away. It is your constant whining that makes me keep remembering more details.

    16. Gosh Scott. You can tell us who used your bathroom but you still can't tell us the reason for all those pay advances. We're gonna keep the question out there!!

    17. You as an anonymous poster can lie with impunity. Thats fine. We all know its all a bunch of lies. I notice you didnt bother to address that a lie didnt work for you?

For the record, im not going away...you can not intimidate me. I live in brevard county, pay taxes in brevard county, and i vote in brevard county!

    18. Was there some point you tried to make here, or just more mindless rambling ? Does it really matter to anyone where you live pay taxes eat breathe or go to the bathroom? It is of no interest to anyone but you. So why tell us? It is easy to see why you and Scott have bonded. He also has a fondness for ignoring real questions like why he needed all those pay advances and insists on telling us what a good driver he is, as if that is the only skill he needs to get elected. You are both such sad puppies.

      Delete
    19. Point being, I'm not going away...You can't outsource me to Orlando, like you cold heartedly did to those 143 employees. I was BLESSED to be reorganized! Blessed! Truly blessed!

Furthermore, is it any of your business if Scott got his paychecks early? If he even got them early? Who knows, you tell so darned many lies I'm sure you can't remember them all at this point.

Do you think that your questions to Scott about something that happened years ago trump our questions to Mitch about what is going on right now? Seriously, why did Mitch have to go into hiding? Why did he pay a MICHIGAN company 8.5 Million when a Florida company would do the job for 2.9 million? What kind of a cut are YOU getting on the outsourced employees? How many more people will you outsource if Mitch wins? Why is it that you are allowed to campaign on clerks time?

I hear that neither you nor Mitch has been around. Of course, I also heard you spoke as the psychic attorney at a luncheon today. Now you not only campaign on the clerks dime you also sell books?

      You are ethically challenged!

ps - I see you never denied that Mitch's wife sent me the email telling me about Scott spreading the rumor. It truly does make anything you say suspect...

      Delete
    20. When Scott answers the questions asked of him, I will respond to the others. The first answer I will give you is that I do NOT work for the clerks office so am free to do what I want when I want.

After you were "reorganized" you sent 2 emails, one in feb. 2011 and the other one in April. You blew your own horn about how great you were at your job and literally begged to be brought back into the workplace. In your usual fashion you trashed others' skills as you bragged about your own, and suggested one lady who you felt was inferior to yourself had a "special" relationship with Mitch Needelman that secured her job. Have I said enough to prove I have that information?
So-you tell me: TWICE you shamelessly tried to get rehired. Now you say you were happy to be let go. Good old Brenda the snake in the rake. Twisting and turning the truth to fit the day.
You WERE bitterly disappointed to be let go. You became more bitter when you failed to weasel back in, and you are bitter to this day. All your ranting to the contrary you will not ever get over it and will carry this grudge to your grave. That, and the hope that if Scott wins you will get a job out of it are the only two reasons you are here. Look in the mirror. Really look. The truth will set you free.

      Delete
    21. Excuse me Ms. Brenda. Are you now Ellis official spokesperson?? Does he have to hide behind your skirts now? Not man enough to step up and tell us?
The reason it is our business (and it is true. Why don't you go do one of those famous records requests y'all are so fond of) to find out about those pay advances is because if he is the custodian of the taxpayer's money he should be in control of his own finances. This was not occasional situation. It was frequent enough to be worrisome. Also the rumors of drug use tie to the advances. So it is big deal and is absolutely the business of voters.

    22. Why do you keep insisting Mitch is in hiding? Did you not see him at barefoot bay last Sunday? You people are really grasping at straws.

  12. As to your black helicopter comment, step back and look at the facts. Fidelity bids the imaging job at $2.9 million, has done court records in Florida before, and offers an all-inclusive contract. Blueware comes in at $8.5 million, has never done court records at all, much less in Florida, and requires the Clerk to pay various subcontractors for a complete job. but hey, no conspiracy there when Blueware is selected at TRIPLE the cost. What is equally bizarre is you yourself covered the May 24th candidate forum in Viera, you heard Mitch Needelman three times deny Matt DuPree worked for Blueware, you heard him say three companies had responded to the ITN and they were still looking to select one to negotiate, and you have seen with your own eyes the Clerk sent $500,000 to Blueware the DAY BEFORE this forum and seen the spreadsheet with Matt DuPree's payments on it from Blueware.
By this time next year you'll not see black helicopters but black headlines in your own newspaper over what has happened in the Clerk's Office over the multiple no-bid and sham-bid contracts.

    1. Dang - first I was called scared and now I'm lazy.

Well - here's a specific. One of the things that backers tout about Scott is that he was a tireless worker - averaging 80-90 hours a week on the job. This does not - to me - indicate someone who has a grasp on good managerial skills.

BTW - I have had a lot of great bosses...and know what a good manager looks like...

    2. We did not have the funds for me to hire a slew of Chief Deputies and Administrative Assistants to do my job and handle my e-mail, the money was better spent on actual workers to get the mission accomplished. It takes time and effort to get to know up to 500 employees, what their job is, and how they work. You're right, it is always easier to delegate in a steeper management pyramid, but it is more mission effective to maintain a flat one.

      Delete
    3. It has been proven the clerks office does not need 500 employees to operate efficiently. It has been running great for 18 months now.

    4. You are not now experiencing record number of Recording volume as we did for 2004-2007, record number of Foreclosures we had from 2007-2009, or record number of Citations as we had in 2005/2006. You are better than 50% off all these peaks. We staffed as necessary, often with part-time and student employees, and moved people as things slowed down and lost numbers through attrition. When I left we had about 390, now there are about 340 with a much higher number of deadwood managers, trainers, and lawyers and even fewer workers. This is why even with a better than 50% reduction in work volume the work that is done is riddled with errors.

So some moved on to a better opportunity or even some were fired because they didn't agree with the new Clerks ideas. And because of this you Now have people leaving that office thinking they have finished there business with confidence that the clerk who assisted them has cleared there driver license situation,WRONG! but what is truly happening is they find out later by either getting arrested or there drivers license taken from them at a routine traffic stop, that what they expected when they left the clerks office was not at all what happened, because of that inexperience and the lack of training the drivers license was never cleared when the customer visited the office to pay the financial obligation. Which later caused those customers shameful embarrasment and additional financial costs that should have never happened. This is happening quite frequently at that the Clerks office,Documents are disappearing and being found later in a totally differant case file because they were docketed to the wrong cases.I'm not telling you this to blame these new employees because with time and proper training they will be just fine. This is not there fault,I'm telling the Brevard Voters because You at one time or another will visit or have visited this office with personal business of your own,Do you want these kind of mistakes to continue to get worse and worse, because what experience that is left at the Clerks office will be gone if Needelman is elected.Open your eyes and take a look at the big picture, Do you really want your private and confidential documents to be handled by inexperience and outside companies who have no,I repeat NO experience in court documents? I say it again, go visit anyone of the offices and see it FIRST HAND for yourself. That visit should make it quite clear come August 14,2012 that Scott Ellis is the right choice for you,and all the employees and the future existance of that office.

    7. So you, yet another disgruntled ex employee has more knowledge than the state auditors who evaluate the work and have said the clerks area eying and exceeding standards every single review period since Needelman took over. This never happened when YOU were there. Ellis never got those high reviews.
While we are on the subject of the drivers licenses, Ellis was so far behind on filing the licenses that had been suspended for DUI that people drove for years without getting caught because they never made it to the police computer systems. These people endangered the lives of YOUR family because of ELLIS laziness and incompetence in getting that info filed. As to who is sitting where and blogging I laugh every time you or Brenda says with authority that you "know" who it is. Your are as wrong about tha as everything else you say. But thanks for all your vast knowledge on identity. It gives me a giggle in my day. You just keep right on with your mad hatters tea party with Scott. It is entertaining for all of us watching. Maybe I am or maybe not, wouldn't you love to know. And if your meeting time standards why are the employees telling customers inquiring on the status of a case that the Clerks Office is a week behind? Since you are a know it all of the Clerks business I thought you might have all the answers. And I have a news flash for you I don't give a fudge what you have to say about Scott Ellis, I have worked for 3 Clerks and your Boss is by far the worst Clerk of them all. 15. Mr. Parker, I judge you to be a reasonable man and a breath of fresh air in this nasty, dirty campaign. It is no secret I am a Needelman supporter. I have known the man for 30 years. He makes thoughtful decisions. He did not disappear. He simply is tired of the Ellis antics.

As you see for yourself , it does not matter what you say, it whips Ellis into a frenzy of disjointed blog postings, many of which make no sense other than to whip the rest of his followers into similar frenzies.

It is worth noting that while Ellis haunts the blogs day and night defending himself from every single comment, finding it necessary to respond point by point to every single one, you NEVER see Needelman on the blogs, ever. That is because he is not paranoid and is secure in himself. Unlike Scott.

What you interpreted as Needelman going into hiding was simply his decision to no longer feed into Scott's ridiculous grandstanding for attention. That court hearing was the final straw. A waste of time and taxpayer money. For what? So Scott, who has raised almost no campaign dollars can get free publicity in the media. Needelman simply stopped feeding the beast.

Everyone has to decide what is best for them. Scott in past few days has taken unkind shots at Needelman's wife and family. Unnecessary and cruel. The bloggers have defended Mitch but they shouldn't have to. If Needelman chooses to go low profile for remainder of days until the election that is his choice. Ellis does not scare him with his bloated rhetoric, but he is sure annoying! Now you are also experiencing what it is like to be target. Please do not judge needelman too harshly until you have walked a mile in his moccasins. So far you have only taken a few steps.
And yes, we all need to brace for Scott's op/Ed piece on this. Probably within minutes of my posting it !!

  19. All the taxpayers liked Needelman a lot,
But the Bitter Quitter did not!
    No one quite knew why,
perhaps nigh, it was just a lie,

Some think the hate was from Ellis’ brain,
Others saw that he did cocaine,
But whatever the reason his brain or cocaine,
It was clear Ellis was insane.

“I’m bitter and I’m a quitter,” Ellis gloated!
“I’ll run on hate,” Ellis was quoted.

I must stop this Needelman from being re-elected,
Even though the Clerk’s Office I have rejected!

But Needelman saved millions in taxes,
Despite chopping yellow signs with axes,

Jealous Ellis lied more to fabricate blame,
But Needelman’s success came all the same,

It came without furloughs, layoffs, or Blogger the nag,
It came without Swingers, lying or Telletubby in drag,

Ellis screamed, “I want to spend more taxpayer money!”
“It beats raising corn and West Virginia honey!”

But in the end, Ellis had nothing to stand for,
Except hating Needelman right to the core,
Spending money on cocaine makes one poor,
That’s why smart people will vote Needelman for sure!

You might as well give up on this. I hear that when the campaign team comes over for a meeting the black helicopter lands in the back yard. You can't see or photograph that from the front street. When the top level team comes, that is by submarine. Also black.

  21. For anyone who missed it, the overly confident and full of himself Mr. Ellis stated a few posts back (one of which he did not panic and delete) that clerk budget is now being wasted on such frivolous things as TRAINERS! He never wasted money on frivolous things like training. A few posts prior to that he said he spent his money, and I quote him, but please go back and read for yourself quickly before he deletes it "spent on picnics, flowers , and parades." Yes parades.

Now ask yourself. Would you rather have a clerk who is offering continuing education for the employees?? Or one who likes to throw parades??
The beauty of all this is, this is not rumor. It is not lies. It is not attack blogging. These are all postings directly from Scott himself. SO, I wonder what kind of conspiracy theory he will come up with for this one. Conspiracy against himself, perhaps?

    1. The money spent was my own. The bogus trainer is on the taxpayer nickel. W had training with BCC and with the county, instead we now have a clueless person from KSC who knows absolutely nothing about the courts or customer service.

    2. What we actually have is "jealous Ellis the bitter quitter" who abandoned ship ahead of the women and children, saving his own hide. The ship was sinking. The captain jumped off. After Needelman got course correction and righted the ship, cowardly captain Ellis wants to climb back aboard and take back the helm. That is not the way it works, Matey !
To continue this very fitting analogy, in the real maritime world cowardly captains are keelhauled. In my opinion too good a punishment for you. If you don't know what it is, look it up.

    3. All the employees were doing fine until Needelman showed up. 25% turnover in one year is hardly leadership.
I'm familiar with keelhauling. It's not practiced anymore, but some jail cell time will do for those involved.

  22. Oh Scott, FYI - just thought you might be interested to know that your "friend" from Hollywood, SC got in a little trouble for DUI boating up there. Yeah, got him little self arrested a couple weeks ago. Too bad. Thought you might want to know as you are such good friends and all. Or maybe you already know? Not sure how close you remain with him. We will discuss THAT little matter in a later post. I really don't have time right now.

  23. We did have continueing education,it was through the county.
Which all of the other County Agencies take the classes that the county offers and still do.
But Mitch pissed the County Commissioners Off, so now we have to pay a big salary to a man who reads from the video word for word, my 6 year old granson could teach that class. What a big waste. And the Parades show the support to the community, which Mitch knows nothing about.I'm so enjoying this, can't wait for your reply.

    1. The training is specific to the job. The county training is generic. You would resist any and all training for obvious reasons. You struggle with learning. People are uncomfortable outside their level of competence. Most of the employees are eager to learn new things. You clearly are not. That is where the saying "ignorance is bliss" came from. Embrace your ignorance!! By the way that is the same reason Scott is one of only two Florida clerks who did not attend training to become certified. Out of his ignorant comfort zone. Besides parades are lots more fun!!

    2. 6:03. You could use a little continuing spelling education. This is correct spelling of continuing. Read it. Memorize it. Remember it. That way you won't look so stupid the next time you try to tell someone you don't need more education.

    3. By the way I do not need to spell it right you obviously are reading my post just fine. The county classes are far from generic,Your boss just likes to spend big money for his friends, and the guy needed a job so Mitch bought him a training program which he reads word for word.

    4. The first thing you learn in grade school is spelling. You learn it to exercise your mind and prepare it for learning other things. Poor spelling is the height of ignorance. In this day of "spell check" particularly. Of course I could read your post. Spelling is not your only problem. Your grammar and syntax are also atrocious. All this detracts from whatever it is (and we are not sure) that you are trying to say. Those of us who made it through grade school and can spell are distracted by the fact that you have such poor skills and yet are working in the clerks office. You must be one of the ones Scott hired before the new hiring screening processes were implemented. You better hang on for dear life. In this economy highly skilled people are vying for YOUR job. You are lucky to be there. Oh by the way enjoy that raise while you can. Because if there is some earthquake and Scott gets elected you will be back on food stamps the first week.

    5. Are you sure you don't work at the Clerks office? You remind me of the Clerk in the Titusville customer service office who is so rude to every customer she assisted during my visit today, and from the looks of it they have her training a new employee! What is he thinking?
Mitch certainly has poor management skills.
I was so glad when it was my turn she wasn't the one calling my number.

Brevard bring Scott Eliis back that office needs order.

You are correct. You do not have to spell it right. You can spell it any ole way you want to! You only have to spell it right if you want the people reading to think you are moderately intelligent. If you don't care about that then you go on and make all the spelling mistakes you want. That'll show'em!!

    8. 4:19. This is for you. Employees at courthouse are legacies from Scott. Their attitudes in some cases are because they drank the Scott koolaid. It is sad they have been brainwashed by Scott to have this belligerent attitude. If he wins they all lose. They do not seem to understand he is bragging he will take back raises and benefits. They are fat and happy now. Everyone has bumped up their standard of living based on those raises. It is easy to go up but hard to go back down. How many of them bought new cars, bought bigger houses, got their kids piano lessons or put them in cheer leading, dance, or karate because those raises allowed those extra activities? That all goes away if Scott comes back. It is amazing they don't see it. That is why we have no compassion for them. We are, however sorry for their families who are the big losers if Scott wins.

    9. You left out dumb if they vote for Needelman.

I keep trying to tell you that to most of those employees money isn't everything. Sure they want security, but the security they want comes from knowing if they do their job properly, they have JOB SECURITY!

A vote for Mitch may very well outsource the rest of them. They aren't stupid even if they are fat and happy (your words).

  24. By the way. Although the audit of contracts, and even the audit of the NON contracts is going well there are a lot of current employees who remember your activities and are helping out. They really do hate you and are eagerly cooperative. And of course there is that double agent who knows a lot of the dirt and is willing to share. A good friend of yours. Doubt it? Where do you think that 5:57 post came from? Who, who, who could it be? ;-)

  25. How many people do you know that have been arrested for DUI? How many people do you know that there house is in foreclosure? How many people do you associate with that are convicted Felons? How many people do you know go bankrupt with there business because of law suits that they were involved in for not paying employees for the work done? OOpps did that last one hit close to home? I thought so!

    1. Was there some point with this??

      Delete
    2. Nope. Did not hit anywhere in my vicinity. Care to be more specific?

And the info on the boating DUI was not intended just to convey that. The meaning is much deeper. Scott will know what it means. The person it references worked for a company Scott hired ( another out of state outsourcing). He got fired from his position. Apparently he and scott had already become "friends" In spite of his termination, scott hired this person, who had no company and no employees, and paid him up front including travel and expenses, with no contract to complete the work of the original company. Work never completed.
So you see this was not about DUI. This was actually about Scott doing for real what he accused Needelman of doing. Only difference is Scott did it. Needelman did not.

    1. Answer what? At this point the blog bounces everywhere and cannot be followed. I never had a foreclosure, do not drink, and avoid water and boats like the plague. I don't know anyone in the South Carolina town you name, and really don't know what contract you are talking about. You fabricate a endless parade of stories, the only thing they have in common is zero details such as names or projects.

  27. Scott you do know this person and you authorized payments to him from the clerks office. It included transportation from SC meals and hotels. It also includes a substantial payment for a report he did not submit. How could that be fabricated? The records are there in the rest of the mess of paperwork you created, no doubt to hide such as this. I have his name but will not post it because the blog will remove names of those not in public eye.
As for your aversion to water, we believe that wholeheartedly. It seems to go hand in hand with your fear of soap. So we will concede that one.
The ranting about foreclosures was by one of your own people. Pay attention.

    1. Once again Scott veers off into the banalities and refuses to address the meat in the sandwich. Can you ever give a straight answer?? Let's practice on an easy one: why did you need all those pay advances? You were making over $10k a month. About 4 times your best paid starving counter clerk. If they could make it, why couldnt you??

This is about the eleventeenth time this was asked. It is public record so can't be denied. So tell us.

  29. So sad and so proud of ignorance. It is a tribute to your character. As I said whatever gets you through the night. I am not policing blog. Only pointing out that some are less credible because of little deficiencies. For instance I would certainly not want YOU handling my filings at the courthouse. Thank god they have implemented those screening tests to weed out the incompetent. A little math, a little reading comprehension equals a literate employee!

But I digress. Let's get back to Scott. And those payroll advances. Some have suggested his drug habit was so costly he could not make it from one check to the next. I am trying to be fair and impartial and allow him to explain to refute this suggestion. I and others have given him this opportunity at least a dozen times. He refuses to even acknowledge question. So we are ready to accept the theory as stated. Last chance, Scotty.

    1. You already know the answer. I don't drink, ever, never. I don't do drugs, never, ever. You've filled the blogs with stories of my DUI's, drunken rides home, cocaine uses, etc., yet never reconciled it with my working 300+ days every year for ten years. How many employees have you known with drug problems who never had any attendance issues, in fact, just the opposite, beyond perfect attendance.
And I am not the one who was out on pay for six weeks with a runny nose.
